Cardiovascular Imaging

What is Cardiovascular Imaging?

Cardiovascular Imaging is concerned with chest discomfort, palpitations, shortness of breath and other varying signs that are symptoms of heart diseases. Imaging technology such as echocardiography, MRI and PET are used to diagnose and detect heart disorders.

They are minimally-invasive and use computed tomography technology and magnetic resonance to examine the vascular system. The system produce images in 4D visualisation showing the complexity of the cardiovascular system to facilitate treatment which might require surgical or endovascular procedure.

What Cardiovascular Imaging tests are available?

Techniques available for the diagnosis of heart and blood vessel abnormalities include

  • CT calcium scoring and CT angiography of the coronary arteries
  • CT and MRI angiography of the aorta and peripheral blood vessels
  • Doppler Ultrasound of the lower limb veins for deep vein thrombosis
