Chronic Kidney Disease Mineral Bone Disorder (CKD-MBD) is a common complication of CKD, affecting bone health and mineral metabolism. It involves disturbances in calcium, phosphate, parathyroid hormone (PTH), and vitamin D levels, leading to bone pain, fractures, and cardiovascular issues.

This lecture will cover the definition and pathophysiology of CKD-MBD, explaining the underlying mechanisms of these metabolic changes. Managing CKD-MBD requires a comprehensive approach, from dietary adjustments to medications. However, the wide range of treatment options can be confusing, making it important to understand the rationale behind each choice.

This session will clarify the medication options available and their roles in controlling CKD-MBD, illustrated with a case study to demonstrate a practical approach to management.
