Dr. Shanker Pasupathy is a General Surgeon with special interest in keyhole surgery for gastroesophageal conditions, gallbladder and abdominal hernia.
He was formerly the Director of the LIFE Centre and Senior Consultant and Chief of the metabolic-bariatric surgery service at the Department of Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery, SGH.
Dr. Shanker is a member of the America Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and was the past president of the Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of Singapore (OMSSS). He is also the immediate past president of the Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (Singapore Chapter).
Dr. Shanker attained his basic surgical training in Singapore, thereafter he underwent higher training in gastro-intestinal and vascular surgery in the UK, France and Germany. He subsequently completed a one year fellowship in “Advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery at the IRCAD (Institut de Recherche contre les Cancers de l’Appareil Digestif) and Université Louis-Pasteur Strasbourg 1.
