Dr. Chuah Sai Wei graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) with commendation from the University of Glasgow, UK in 2002. She then embarked on specialist training in Internal Medicine and received the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) from the UK in 2005. She subsequently obtained the specialist accreditation in the field of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. Her advanced fellowship training in gastroenterology was in the area of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University Hospital Trust, UK.
Dr. Chuah was previously a Consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Centre in Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She was also a Visiting Consultant in the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore. She continues to be a Visiting Consultant at SGH.
Her clinical expertise includes the management of gastrointestinal and liver conditions. Her subspecialty of interest includes Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She routinely performs procedures such as diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy.
Dr. Chuah was actively involved in the hospital’s service development. She was the Co-chair of the Centre for Digestive and Liver Diseases (CDLD) Executive Committee, SGH and Singhealth Transition Care Workgroup. She was also active in clinical research and received several research grant awards. She has contributed well in education and was the core faculty of the Singhealth Gastroenterology Senior Residency Program. She has given lectures as an invited speaker for local and regional workshops and conferences. She is currently the Vice Chairperson for the National Foundation of Digestive Disease, Singapore.
Dr. Chuah's specialty interest is inflammatory bowel disease.
