Dr. Ooi Choon Jin obtained his MBBS from National University of Singapore in 1989. He attained his higher degree from the Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom in 1994. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh. From 1998 to 2000, he trained at the Center for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, Gastrointestinal Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He was the Chairman of the Chapter of Gastroenterologists, Academy of Singapore from 2011-2015.
Dr. Ooi was Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at Singapore General Hospital from 2000-2012. He also served as Clinical Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of at National University of Singapore. Currently, he continues as Adjunct Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. He is a Gastroenterologist at Farrer Park Medical Centre and a Visiting Consultant.
Dr. Ooi has also published in various journals such as the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Pathology, Annals of Academic (Singapore), Singapore Medical Journal, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Gastroenterology, Current Opinion in Gastroenterology and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics.
His main areas of academic interest include ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, malabsorption and Helicobacter pylori related disorders. His clinical interests include all aspects of gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. He routinely performs diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy, colonoscopy, balloon assisted enteroscopy and capsule endoscopy.
Dr. Ooi's specialty interests are general astroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.
