Dr. Lewis Liew is a Urologist whose clinical expertise involves the screening, prevention and treatment of urological problems for both men and women of various age groups. Dr. Liew completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom in 1992. He later pursued basic surgical training and obtained his surgical fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1997.
Prior to private practice, Dr. Liew was a Consultant Urologist at NUH. It was there wherein he established a laparoscopic service at the Department of Urology.
In 1998, Dr. Liew underwent advanced urological training at the National University Hospital (NUH) in Singapore and completed his urological specialist training in 2002. Dr. Liew was a clinical fellow at St. James's University Hospital in Leeds, United Kingdom, where he trained in the fields of endourology (minimally invasive treatment of kidney stones) and laparoscopy under the mentorship of Dr. Adrian Joyce. In 2006, Dr. Liew underwent robotic surgery training and gained experience in the robotic-assisted Da Vinci surgical system. Apart from his expertise in urology, Dr. Liew is also skilled in performing various laparoscopic urological surgeries such as laparoscopic prostate, kidney, bladder and ureter surgery.
Aside from clinical work, Dr. Liew is a member and also Treasurer of the Singapore Urological Association. He is also a member of Société Internationale d’Urologie, Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia as well as the National Kidney Transplant team at the Ministry of Health. Dr. Liew had published various book chapters in local and international peer-reviewed medical journals. He is also often invited to lecture at various scientific meetings and has been an instructor for numerous laparoscopic courses and workshops.
Dr. Liew's specialty interests are bladder cancer, hernia surgery, kidney cancer, kidney stones, kidney transplantation, prostate cancer and robotic and laparoscopic surgery.
