Biography
Dr. Timothy Shim is a Senior Consultant Plastic Surgeon. He is experienced in aesthetic surgery and advanced reconstruction techniques relating to breast cancer, head and neck cancers, skin tumors as well as lower limb reconstruction.
Prior to private practice, Dr. Shim was a Senior Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). He was previously the Program Director in charge of National Healthcare Group’s Plastic Surgery Training Program. He was also a clinical tutor at National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Nanyang Technological University’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is currently a Visiting Consultant to the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Service at TTSH.
Dr. Shim graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2002. He obtained his Membership of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Master in Medicine in Surgery from NUS in 2005 and 2007 respectively. He later completed his advanced training in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in 2011 and became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (Plastic Surgery) in 2013. Dr. Shim completed his subspecialty training in supermicrosurgery at The University of Tokyo Hospital in 2011.
Apart from clinical work, Dr. Shim is also an appointed Site Accreditor at the Joint Committee for Specialist Training. Dr. Shim believes in giving back to the community and is often dedicating his time to community work with regular mission trips.
Dr Shim's specialty interests are aesthetic surgery, advanced reconstruction techniques - breast, head and neck, skin cancers, and lower limb reconstruction.
