Dr. Julian Wong is a very experienced vascular and general surgeon at Farrer Park Hospital. He is very passionate about delivering clinical excellence to his patients with a holistic and individualized approach, utilizing the latest technology along with evidence-based practice.
Dr. Wong was appointed Senior Consultant Vascular Surgeon at National University Hospital (NUH) in 2011 and served as Head of Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery from 2013 to 2021.
During his time at NUH, he was also Director of the National University Heart Centre Singapore Aortic Centre from 2017 to 2022. He led a group of cardiovascular surgeons in treating various aspects of aortic disease covering aortic dissections, and thoracic and abdominal aneurysms using open, hybrid, and endovascular approaches.
In 2018, Dr. Wong was appointed by the Ministry of Health as Co-Chairman of the National Diabetic Foot Committee to address the incidence of diabetes. During this time, he developed the Appropriate Care Guide for diabetic foot assessment and helped with related policies.
He also has a strong interest in both undergraduate and postgraduate education. Dr. Wong received the NUH Residents’ Choice Award in 2020 and 2021 for his teaching. He was part of core faculty for the residence program for general surgery at NUH, Chief Examiner for MRCS, and Chairman for Master of Medicine (Surgery) at the National University of Singapore. He is also FRCS Exit Examiner as well as a member of the Court of Examiners for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Dr. Wong has been a consultant surgeon for almost 19 years and has practiced a full range of complex open and endovascular surgery. Upon graduating from the University of Aberdeen’s medical school, he underwent his higher surgical training at Manchester and gained his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in both general and vascular surgery. He was then appointed NHS Consultant Surgeon at University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
His specialty interests are aortic surgery (complex, open, EVAR, TEVAR, FEVAR), open venous and endovenous surgery, renal access surgery, arteriovenous malformation, carotid surgery, diabetic foot, thoracic outlet syndrome, onco-vascular surgery, and complex redo vascular surgery.
