Dr. Kong graduated from the National University of Singapore (1989), he obtained membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1994 and MMed (Int Med) in 1995. He trained in respiratory medicine at TTSH and subsequently spent one year at the National Jewish Health in Colorado (USA) where he focused on patients with difficult asthma and mycobacterial infections under the Health Manpower Development Plan fellowship.
Dr. Kong is a chest physician with extensive experience. Prior to private practice, he was with Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where he set up the Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM) clinic while taking charge of the Occupational Lung Diseases clinic. He remains as visiting consultant to the Department of Respiratory Medicine.
He has published in international journals and has lectured frequently on Asthma and Lung Diseases. He is currently a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine in Singapore, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh as well as a member of the American Thoracic Society, and has held the appointment of President of the Singapore Thoracic Society (2004).
Dr. Kong's specialty interests are asthma, chronic lung infections and mycobacterial lung diseases.
