Biography

Dr. Ong Kee Leong is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and knee surgery, arthroscopic sports surgery and the management of sports-related injuries. He has a special interest in knee joint preservation surgery.

Since 2011, Dr. Ong has been a registered orthopedic surgery specialist with the Singapore Medical Council. Prior to joining private practice, Dr. Ong served as Senior Consultant and Director of Sports Service in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Changi General Hospital. He also has experience working in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Ong graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2001. He obtained his Master of Medicine in Orthopedic Surgery in 2007 and was conferred fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Orthopedic Surgery in 2011.

In 2012, Dr. Ong was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship from the Ministry of Health to undergo fellowship training in Germany. He completed his 1-year clinical fellowship in Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery at the SportsClinic Germany Center in Hannover, Germany under the mentorship of Professor P. Lobenhoffer and Dr J. Agneskirchner.

A firm believer in the training of young doctors, Dr. Ong is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Senior Clinical Tutor at National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a core faculty member of the SingHealth Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program.

Dr. Ong conducts regular courses for both local and regional surgeons by sharing his experience in knee surgery. He is also a recipient of multiple teaching awards. Dr. Ong received the SingHealth Residency Outstanding Faculty Awards from 2014-2016 as well as the Changi General Hospital Outstanding Educator Awards from 2015 to 2016.

With a strong belief that exercise and sports is the best medicine, Dr. Ong is all about helping his patients get back in the game and stay in the game.

Dr. Ong's specialty interests are arthroscopic sports surgery, knee joint preservation surgery, management of sports-related injuries and shoulder and knee surgery.
