Dr. Alan Cheung is an experienced Senior Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon born and trained in England. His areas of specialty are sports injuries and robotic joint replacement, using the Makoplasty Robotic Surgical System.
Dr. Cheung is the Team Doctor for the Wrestling Federation of Singapore. He is also a World Rugby Educator and has been Matchday Doctor for international rugby events such as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, and Super Rugby.
Dr. Cheung was educated in Cambridge, England and obtained his medical degree from University College London. He completed his surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in London, and underwent his Fellowship training in Joint Reconstruction and Musculoskeletal Oncology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He has always been a keen athlete and played for Cambridge Rugby Club as a youth. Currently he trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Evolve Mixed Martial Arts. He regularly competes in BJJ and has won gold in tournaments in Singapore and Japan. When not practicing martial arts, Dr. Cheung enjoys golf, cycling and skiing and Hyrox competitions.
Prior to establishing the award winning International Orthopaedic Clinic (IOC), Dr. Cheung was a Consultant at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. He has a passion for teaching and was a Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, teaching medical students and Orthopedic residents. He has also been an international instructor for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). He was an instructor on the first ever Hip and Knee reconstruction course held in Myanmar. He is regularly invited to teach on courses in the Asia-Pacific region, instructing other surgeons how to perform the latest techniques in sports and joint reconstruction surgery. He has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and presented at many international conferences.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Cheung regularly consulted at the International Orthopaedic Clinic (IOC) branch in Shanghai, China.
Dr. Cheung's specialty interests are in robotic joint replacement, knee sports injuries, hip sports injuries, shoulder sports injuries, and ankle sports injuries.
