Dr. P. Thiagarajan (Raj) is an Orthopedic and Knee Surgeon specialist. He has been practicing sports medicine surgery for more than 25 years and has worked in many overseas centers dealing with sports medicine and orthopedic problems. He practices at Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Pte Ltd.
In 1983, he completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from National University of Singapore. He completed his Master Chirurgiae in Orthopedic Surgery from Liverpool University, United Kingdom in 1992 and obtained his Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1988. In 1990, he obtained his Fellowship from the International College of Surgeons of Chicago and he went on to pursue his Fellowship fromthe Academy of Medicine of Singapore in Orthopedic Surgery in1995.
Dr. Raj has been an International Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons since 1998.
His specialties include joint replacement surgery, trauma surgery, physiotherapy for sports injury rehabilitation, cartilage surgery, medical screening, and cryotherapy to name a few. Dr. Raj also specializes in arthroscopic surgery or keyhole surgery, this involves the examination and treatment of joint disorders by means of small incisions, the use of a variety of telescopic lenses and specialized micro-instruments.
Known to most professional athletes in Singapore as Dr. Raj, he has been a Team Physician and has affiliations with sports clubs and teams since 1997. These include Singapore Rugby Union, Singapore Amateur Athletic Association, Singapore Sports Council as well as consulting at the 2004 and 2005 Singapore Rugby Sevens.
Apart from clinical work, Dr. Raj has also been a member of the European Society for Sports, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy since 1998 and an honorary member with the Arthroscopy Association of North America since 2004.
Dr Raj's specialty interests are cartilage surgery, cryotherapy, joint replacement surgery, medical screening and sports injury physiotherapy.
