Dr. Niall Crosby is an ophthalmologist who brings with him a wealth of experience, having worked in 15 different eye departments on three continents.

Prior to private practice, Dr. Crosby was an Associate Consultant for three years at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Medical Centre. For two and a half years, he was the only full-time fellowship-trained retinal specialist in the hospital, and during this period, he was on-call daily for out-of-hours and emergency retinal problems and trained a team of three Consultants and Associate Consultants in retinal surgery. Before he relocated to Singapore, Dr. Crosby was a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon with the U.K.’s National Health Service.

Dr. Crosby first graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons) in Neuroscience in 1999 and later obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2002, achieving honours in several subjects including ophthalmology. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of London in 2011. Before embarking on his ophthalmology training, Dr. Crosby also worked in departments such as accident and emergency and neurosurgery, and taught anatomy at the University of Leicester Medical School.

Dr. Crosby began his nine years of ophthalmology training in the West Midlands, in the UK. He then undertook two fellowships in vitreoretinal surgery in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, UK, and at the University of Auckland in New Zealand; both of which are centres of excellence for ophthalmology. He followed this with a third fellowship in medical retina and uveitis at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, the oldest eye hospital in the world and the largest in Europe.

Dr. Crosby is also actively involved in research, having authored numerous publications and delivered lectures to other eye specialists both within Singapore and abroad. He is also a peer-reviewer for international scientific journals. He is passionate about teaching ophthalmology and has mentored and trained several surgeons in retinal and cataract surgery.
