Dr. Cliff Wong Chun Pong is a cardiologist and echocardiologist. He was formerly a senior consultant and lead for cardiac rehabilitation at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He provided extensive echocardiographic service. In addition, he started the streamlining of management of young stroke from the point of screening by transthoracic echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography to the arrangement of closure of patent foramen ovale at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore. He was also involved in the cardio-oncology echocardiographic service.
Dr. Wong graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong in 2002. He specialized in internal medicine and attained his Membership of Royal College of Physicians in 2008. He underwent further training in cardiology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. In 2017, he was awarded the Human Manpower Development Program scholarship from the Ministry of Health to pursue his training in advanced cardiac imaging as a Fellow at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, United States. Then he obtained his board certification in echocardiography (ASCeXAM) by the National Board of Echocardiography, USA and cardiovascular computed tomography (CBCCT) by the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, USA. He has also been a Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation since 2018.
He actively teaches and was a Core Clinical Faculty Member for the Cardiology Senior Residency Program of the National Healthcare Group, as well as a member of the Cardiology Resident Advisory Committee under MOH. He was conferred the Teaching Excellence Award (Postgraduates) in 2022. Dr. Wong has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles in international journals and authored a book chapter.
Dr. Wong has been a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore since 2014. In recognition of his numerous publications and contributions towards the advancement of echocardiography, he was awarded the Fellowship of the American Society of Echocardiography in 2020.
He is skilled in performing 2D and 3D transthoracic echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography, contrast echocardiography, and pharmacological and exercise stress echocardiography.
Dr. Wong’s specialty interests are echocardiography imaging in heart care, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, cardio-oncology (heart disease in cancer patients), hypertension, preventive cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and cardiac computed tomography (CT)
