Dr. Errol Chan is a Medical Director and Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Ascend Eye Clinic.
Dr. Chan is an experienced Ophthalmologist with more than 10,000 procedures to date. His approach to every patient with an eye condition is to deliver quality and meticulous care with a personalized touch, leveraging on technology to achieve optimal vision safely.
Dr. Chan graduated MBBS from the National University of Singapore with placement on the Dean’s List, and gained Ophthalmology specialist training at the National University Hospital in Singapore. He was awarded Fellowship accreditation in Ophthalmology from the Academy of Medicine Singapore, and the Royal Colleges in Canada and the UK (Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London), being the one of the few eye specialists worldwide with all these credentials concurrently.
Dr. Chan is a triple-Fellowship trained Ophthalmologist. In recognition of his achievements, Dr. Chan was awarded scholarship by the Retina Foundation of Canada to pursue a Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship at McGill University, Canada. He was subsequently awarded the coveted Advanced Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship, and the Medical Retina & Uveitis Fellowship, both at Moorfields Eye Hospital London, UK, the largest centre for eye surgery in Europe.
He has trained under the tutelage of Professors David Charteris, James Bainbridge, Lyndon da Cruz, John Chen, and Michael Kapusta, internationally-renowned surgeons in the field.
He has also gained experience in laser vision correction and refractive surgery at Optegra Eye Hospital London.
Dr. Chan is a professional member of the following specialty organizations: American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retinal Specialists, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Vitrectomy Buckle Society.
Prior to private practice, Dr. Chan was a Consultant Ophthalmologist with the National Health Service, UK. He has also been appointed Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and Adjunct Research Fellow at the Singapore Eye Research Institute.

Dr. Chan is actively engaged in pushing the boundaries of Ophthalmology. He has published more than 40 articles in international Ophthalmology journals and book chapters, served as a clinical trial investigator for new treatments for eye diseases, and is consulted by industry as an opinion leader. He has also been honored with awards from the World Glaucoma Association and the Asia-Pacific Vitreoretina Society. He is an invited speaker and panelist at international and regional conferences, and has also been featured in the local media such as The Straits Times and CNA98.3FM.
