Dr. Charles Tsang graduated from National University of Singapore and obtained his fellowship diploma in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow). He completed his clinical fellowship in Surgery at Leeds General Infirmary and then an advanced residency in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the University of Minnesota. He was top of the class and the first non American to be awarded the Carl E Christensen Outstanding Resident Scholar Award. He later graduated with a Master of Science in Experimental Surgery and became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine and an accredited Specialist in General Surgery. He is an International Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr.Tsang is a consultant colorectal surgeon who is well versed in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for both cancer and benign disorders, proctology, advanced therapeutic endoscopic and functional bowel disorders. He is a recognised world authority in endorectal and endoanal ultrasound imaging. He was Head and Senior Consultant of the Division of Colorectal Surgery and Surgical Oncology while at National University Cancer Institute of Singapore prior to private practice and continue to be a visiting consultant at Singapore General Hospital and Ng Teng Fong Hospital.
Dr. Tsang is also active in research which had received funding from A*STAR and EXPLOIT and has authored numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. He is a member of the editorial board of Korean Journal of Coloproctology and a reviewer of the British Journal of Surgery. He is also a frequent speaker at many international meetings for his expertise in the management of complex anal fistula and colorectal cancer..
